In between very welcome rainstorms, severe winds, and general spring craziness, Gabriel and I have taken sanctuary out of doors. Past the first stage of fragile blooms, the neighborhood has transformed into an emerald-like gem, which is difficult not to enjoy. The post-dinner evening walks have returned, manical barking, both from local dogs and my own pup, fill the air, and I'm beginning to teach Gabriel how to help with small chores outside. The nearly-two-year-old helps water the garden, sing to the bees, sift the soil, and scare the crows away (I promise, I didn't teach him that one).

He also pets the flowers, feeds the ants, and waters everything in sight if he happens to have a cup of water in his hand (including his rocking horse and my feet). I don't think I've ever delighted in this time of year as much as I have now that there is a tiny pair of eyes to help me see it.
