A Soggy Holiday.

Our long holiday weekend was full of family get-togethers, barbeques galore, and much time spent in the sweet company of a handful of extra sweet people. We've had four days of rain, which is very unusual for Denver, though we enjoyed every drop. It made for some very soggy parties, happy, happy grass, and muddy children, all of which are thoroughly welcome in this high-desert land I call home. And a few snapshots from the beautiful home of my aunt and uncle:

Gabriel got his share of summer snacking: bits of raspberries, cupcake frosting, grilled potato salad, and even a very animated sip of ginger ale. He's been standing on his own for longer periods of time, and will take a few, very well-planted steps when he wants to, but he laughs whenever he loses his balance, so I think the fun of falling outweighs his urge to walk on his own at the moment. :) He's also taken to petting my eyelashes, which he found last week, and can't get enough of now. Last night he was nursing to sleep in the dark, as usual, and his little hand found its way to my face, where it proceeded to scout out my eyelashes. He laid there, stroking them until he fell asleep about ten minutes later.

Sometimes this whole baby thing is far too sweet to bear.
